About Us.

Uncommon Folk is a digital platform uniting and elevating creative and lifestyle founders.

We are on a mission to unite a global community of creative change-makers who are building purpose-driven, lifestyle-led brands. We are for those who do business differently. For those who are looking to embrace creative skill, passion and mission to successfully carve their own path and make an impact on the world.

As we grow our community we are seeking an exceptional creative to join the team on a short term basis to capture our mission in moving film.

The Role.

We are looking for a creative to join our team on a short term basis (with potential for opportunities in the future) to support us in creating engaging video content that both captures the mission of Uncommon Folk and our community of free folk.

Working closely with the Founder you work on specific projects, including (but not limited to); capturing profiles of successful creatives, and developing promotional video content for an upcoming launch.

We are looking to really showcase our varied creative community and share stories through the lens, whilst also developing a distinctive Uncommon Folk style that is unmistakable to our community.

There will be a focus on highly engaging short-form content, with final content to be used across various marketing channels (including but not limited to Instagram, Pinterest, TikTok and website).

Part of this project will involve capturing profiles of creative business owners. You will therefore be great with working with people and putting them at ease, whilst also being able to effectively communicate and collaborate on creative ideas to really capture an engaging story.

This is set to be a really fun and exciting project that will both build on your portfolio and open you to a network of aspirational creatives.

You

Professional Skills

  • Expert camera skills to effectively shoot high quality footage (equipment tbc but will likely be a mix of professional equipment and iPhone (13)).
  • Expert video editing skills (including full video edit, subtitles, filters and overlays) using professional programmes. Ideally you will have access to appropriate software but we have full access to the Adobe Suite if required (this would only be accessed in Portsmouth)).
  • You will have the creativity to produce a highly-engaging, high-quality final product that keeps viewer attention throughout.
  • Ability to tell compelling stories through filmmaking
  • Offer creative ideas and direction during the full filming and editing process
  • Understanding of what makes compelling, modern, engaging short form content
  • Develop a consistent brand style that is distinctive to Uncommon Folk

The more important stuff…

This should be a really fun, creative project where you will work closely with the founder and get to work with some really epic creatives.

We’re all about making this project as enjoyable as possible so you will ideally be positive, committed & you also like to embrace the Uncommon Folk style of life.

The details.

Shoot days will be on location so you will need to be available on certain dates in August & possibly September. These will be agreed with you in advance. We are also looking to explore virtual filming options (to be discussed at the initial meeting).

Editing can be completed at home (if you have access to appropriate professional editing software). An agreed deadline will be set, within the timeframe you have the flexibility to complete editing at times that suit you.

The role would ideally suit a recent graduate or film student who has developed high level skills and are looking to develop your portfolio.

This is a short term project but may offer further opportunities for the right person.

This is a freelance position so you will have to make appropriate means to invoice in this way.

How to apply

  1. Email your creative portfolio and CV to the email below, showcasing any work.content you have already created. Please include a small paragraph about you and why you would like to be a part of this project.
  2.  Additional: Record and edit a short creative profile (approx 30 seconds) that would be suitable for social media. The creative profiles we are developing will showcase the person behind a brand, usually an interview audio placed over engaging b-roll.

The specific content of the profile is not important for this task (this doesn’t have to be a recording with a real creative, you could record yourself or a friend), we are looking for general style and creativity.

We are very happy to provide examples of the type of footage we are looking to capture. Please email the address below for more info.
